I’m In Love With A Messenger, BlackBerry Messenger Wow, I can't believe that I've been missing out on meeting all these cool people through BlackBerry Messenger. I've had BlackBerry's for over 3 years now and have never used BBM until about 3 weeks ago. I knew how to use Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk and MSN Messenger to talk to my family and friends on my BlackBerry but I just never took the time to check out BBM to see what it was about or how it works. Well the person who introduced me to BBM was Michelle who used to work with me. She called me up about 3 weeks ago and said what's your PIN# and I'm like...
“Huh”? I didn't know why she would want my Pin# for my BlackBerry. Understand that prior to that, the only person who ever asked for my BB Pin # was my BlackBerry administrator at work – lol. She had to explain to me that we can chat through BBM and it was always on and blah blah blah. Well to humor Michelle, I gave her my pin# and said to myself she's losing it because we already chat on Google Talk on our BlackBerry's. She was my first and only contact for about a week. Then as I was reading other people's posts on forums I suddenly noticed that some of them had pin #'s either on their profile or signature and I decided “what the hell” and added my Pin# to my signature . Again prior to this I would go to a few BlackBerry enthusiast sites to read the posts and to get answers to my BB problems. I had never posted before so I had no need for a signature, avatar or Pin #. Well being in a brave mood, I decided to post on one of these sites and included my pin #. In a few hours, I started getting add requests from people from all over the country and the world. Being the social butterfly that I am (or hope to be) I accepted all requests and started chatting. Granted I did get a few weirdos who wanted to exchange pics and when they started talking funny, I promptly deleted them. But for the most part, I've met some amazing funny and interesting people on BlackBerry Messenger, including Peter, who introduced me to the world of berrytastic.com, blogging and posting on forums. In the span of 2 short weeks, I have added a total of 32 contacts on my BBM and this is after I accidentally deleted someone that I really liked and have not been able to find since. I've met people of all ages, males and females, married and single, near and far, from all walks of life and have had some of the most interesting and funny conversations I've ever had with people online. There have been a few people who added me but have never started a conversation with me so I'm asking myself, “why did you even request me to add you if you're not going to speak to me ever?” so I'm in the process of deleting a few of these contacts to make room for the people who want to talk to me. My problem now is that I'm out of control with this BBM thing because last night I was up until 4am talking to 4 different people at the same time. I'm really going to make my carpal tunnel worse at the rate that I'm going so I'm going to have to limit myself soon (don't know when...but soon.lol). It's just great to find people who have the same interests as you do, meaning we all love our BlackBerrys and can't live without it. I'm also getting to meet people that I would never have met in real life because I would just not have the opportunity to visit where they live. I'm sure that some of these will become lasting friendships and I am so glad that I decided to give it a try. Great, this is all I need, another addiction – lol. |
