I have had my BlackBerry Bold 9000 about 7 months now, (I felt so compelled to do this review of my whole phone but as you can see its gotten very big. I was going to add screen shots this, so I have taken/edited certain aspects off it, because it was just getting ridiculous) I do not know what I would do without it nowadays, it goes everywhere with me, its always on always connected, I am a real crackberry addict. It does everything a top end smart phone should & then it pulls something else out of the bag. I eat breath sleep my BB, My eyes to the world out there BB makes you far to productive = no sleep! If that makes me sad, & a geek, so be it, I am very happy with that. Sorry about all those puns, but that's the only way I can get across how much I love this phone. For me its the perfect handset/pda so much so when I upgrade in a month or so I am having another Bold.
I love broadcasting application links over the BBM network. I can't get my head round how versatile BBM is, we can text, send pictures, send voice files, www links & file/application links, not costing a penny. My bills have dwindled since I've got this awesome handset. If I had not seen it with my own eyes, I would not have believed how many apps there are, a lot are free, some are alpha's & beta's, some have cost me x amount of pounds, the most expensive was Flipside at £12.50 Periodic Table £ .50p $ .80c

From the description
This application is for everyone who wants to get a view on how fast he/she can type on his/her BlackBerry device. It calculates the result in words per minute. It’s the first application of its kind for BlackBerry.
Through this you can see if you type faster on a PC-Keyboard or on your mobile device since the application uses the same calculation as other wpm-calculators. This application also includes a high score list for the best 3 scores.
It contains 6 texts (4 English / 2 German) you can choose from; You have to type off the text and then it calculates the speed. Another option is ‘Speed Writing’. There you just type anything and when you want to calculate the speed, you simply click on Stop! It works as follows: the application gives you a text that you have to type off and when you finished writing off the text, it shows you the time taken and the number of characters typed. Through this it calculates the average words per minute. Now you finally have the ability to get an impression of your typing-speed. Can you break 60wpm? Do you type faster than your colleagues/friends? Features:
* Not expensive * First of its kind * Vibration if you typed an error * Very easy to use * Improves your typing speed * Perfect for competitions

You can share your usage via email with a friend for now, and the next generation of this application will let you compare your usage with that of your friends and colleagues.
The application counts your usage on the phone as active time – therefore when prompted you should grant access to this application to use the phone api on your blackberry device. In addition, the application periodically checks to see if a new version of the application is available.

Flipside. £12.50 $19.95
http://electricpocket.com/flipside/flipside.jad
Again, another iPod clone based application, Full Screen Album Art.
Upon starting the application for the first time it takes ages to load 8 gig's worth of music but once it has loaded it all up, it is really quick to "roll" through your albums, you can roll as quickly or as slowly as you wish, you can add playlists to your hearts content, I "don't do" playlists, I like my music by album to album, as you would listen to it on a CD player.
Clicking on an album, displays all the tracks in a subtle white text, like the back of a CD cover, if you don't have a certain album cover, it shoots of to their sever and downloads it for you.
Bad points - can't connect to Bluetooth from within Flipside, but it will play via Bluetooth, weird one, that one! Can't turn the volume down whilst on the home screen. It sometimes does not play full album, no repeat! They are tagged better than the default player, to an extent they are better organised but it still not Album/Artist, like I like my music, you can tap a letter & the screen scrolls to the album that begins with that letter.
Good Points - I like it, I love it, it retrieves album art, it looks the dogs dangley's, its quick & smooth. ****

How do I schedule QuickPull to run every day?

Once you select a time, QuickPull will run at that time without being prompted no matter what. Simple set a time and click OK. You may Unschedule QuickPull at anytime under the QuickPull Schedule menu as well.
Have questions? Need help?
Since QuickPull is a free application it does not come with full technical support. But if you need help or have any questions simply search for QuickPull on your favorite BlackBerry forum and we or a fellow QuickPull lover can help you out! This document has been produced entirely, I say ENTIRELY on my Bold over a matter of days & weeks. (made easier because I save all my download links in NotePad, that's how I find em so quick, thus giving me the idea of producing this article) I have used Notepad. its been an absolute joy to write. Anytime, anywhere; in bed, on the loo, on the bus, getting of the bus, at work, secretly at work, at my Mums, in the car flicking from one app to another, ie flicking between "Options" and "Notedpad" just press the red call end button, and shortcut key back into previous app, because that's how easy the Bold is to use, a breeze. The whole handset is setup around Quicklaunch, every app that I use as default is set up with a shortcut key ie SocialScope is "S" where as Ubertwiter does not have one. But once in the IMs folder in Quicklaunch you just type "U" & your on it & click. All this for £35 a month. To me that is jawdropping stuff, I am in awe of this thing. I know I have bought some apps, several at £12.50 but considering I was spending £70 a month on average on my Sony Ericsson & buying applications as well & it could not do this, produce an article of this nature so quick and easily as this big boy has done. Just do the maths, it aint rocket science. |
